About the maker.
Worthing based maker Matthew Paré, creates furniture with uncompromising quality and refined craftsmanship as Petrel Furniture.
He creates understated work with restrained detailing, that shows off the natural beauty of native wood and an honest integrity in making.
His work is intended to sit in harmony within a room, adding to the overall feel, and yet having a depth of detail that fascinates and gives pleasure for many years, working exclusively with British timbers and in hand selecting wood for each project. Matthew works with a network of specialist timber merchants and suppliers to source the perfect material for a project, often using storm fallen timber and felled urban trees that have been saved from shredding. This creates the next chapter for the tree as it moves from the landscape into a sustainable piece of furniture for your home.
